What makes a good fit

Come when the explanation you have stopped being enough.

The engagements that work best start from a symptom nobody has been able to explain away — a recurring failure, a decision that keeps getting deferred, a metric that moves without anyone being able to say why.

What they have in common is that the obvious interpretation has already been tried and did not hold. That is the point at which cross-disciplinary research earns its cost, because the constraint is usually sitting in a discipline nobody in the room owns: a legal duty shaping a product decision, an environmental factor shaping a behavioural one, an information problem being managed as a motivation problem.

Conversely, if you already know exactly what you need built and who should build it, you probably do not need this practice. Say so and I will tell you as much in the first reply rather than the fourth.

What you can expect

Scope and deliverables are defined before paid work begins, and the work states what it does not establish alongside what it does.

That second half is not a disclaimer habit. A finding handed over without its boundary will be used past that boundary, usually by someone who was not in the room when it was made, and the practice has watched that happen often enough to design against it. Several of the tools in this estate exist chiefly to make a boundary survive a handoff.

Where the work would require a licensed professional in a specific jurisdiction — legal advice, clinical judgement, a compliance opinion — that is named rather than absorbed.
